School Board to Set Goals Tonight

The Loudoun County School board holds a goal-setting session tonight, the first revision to our goals in about three years if I'm not mistaken. There are 36 current goals, and the consensus view (not to mention the opinion of our recent outside efficiency review) is that we need to narrow this down to seven or fewer because more than that becomes unwieldy.

This is an open meeting beginning at 5:30pm.

The rest of this week....
  • Tuesday, 6:30 pm, Joint Meeting of Board of Supervisors and School Board regarding FY2010 budget outlook. County Government Center.
  • Wednesday, 7:30 pm, Loudoun Education Alliance of Parents presentation and Q&A regarding the County Government and LCPS budget process. LCPS Admin Building.
  • Thursday, 6pm, LCPS Legislative/Policy committee meets to discuss legislative positions for 2009 Virginia Legislative Assembly. LCPS Admin Building.

  1. John, Is the meeting tomorrow night (budget meeting) open to the public?

  2. It and all others are open to the public.

Nearly every meeting of every government body in Virginia is open to the public. Let the sun shine in.

I may occasionally reference a 'closed' or 'executive session' meeting here on the blog but when I do I try to specify so that it's clear.

  3. What happened to your working on dealing with the Loudoun Valley crowding and interim measures? I didn't see that as any of your goals....you COULD put it under the class size goal of 25.9 students per high school class since many classes my child has have 30 or more students. Continuing to wait to see what a judge decides is putting your heads in the sand because that relief is 2 years away (maybe longer if BOS continues to refuse Town's fair settlement offer). Do you not seem to realize we have a crisis now? I suspect an emergency in that building would be disasterous - DO SOMETHING NOW!
