LoudounSchools YouTube Channel

I'm not really an audio-visual guy. I like writing, I like reading. Nevertheless there are a lot of great videos out there, and today I found one that I really couldn't share without starting a YouTube channel, so I introduce to you....

LoudounSchools on YouTube: www.YouTube.com/LoudounSchools

The first video is a Back to School Video that LCPS published as a 20MB downloadable file on its homepage, I just noticed it this afternoon. It's great that LCPS is creating more videos and I hope they will soon open their own video channel.

  1. Great video! Now if you could just get YouTube unblocked in the schools, we'd be in better shape.

Lots of time and effort is needed to download YouTube video (at home) and then use for instructional purposes - an unnecessary hurdle.

And just a small suggestion for the cut in the substitute budget . . . I hear that VA Beach Schools require each Central Office employee who holds a teaching certificate to sub 5 days each school year. Sure would make for a good understanding of teacher responsibilities.

  2. Sure....unblock youtube at schools....I'm sure the students would only watch "educational" videos....

  3. Requiring Central Office people to substitute in school classrooms sound like a good idea! We seem to have a lot of "supervisors" and "directors" in Loudoun Coumty who haven't seen a classroom in years. They are well versed in telling teachers what the LCPS requirements are, but have no idea of the work involved to actually meet the requirements. The new Clarity grade cards would be an excellent place to start! The people who put this web-based conglomoration together simply have no idea of what our teachers have to put up with.
