Agreed, but it is an apples to oranges comparison. It's too bad we don't have the technical and vocational programs China does and instead believe that all children, regardless of skills and abilities, should graduate from regular high school and attend college. I am very happy to still see Mandarin in the high school language departments.
maybe we would not be sinking if we didn't overcrowd schools and cram information into the kids so they can past some stupid state test rather than master those skills needed to move on to the next level!
