Marshall Applies for Leesburg Town Council Seat

Former School Board member Tom Marshall isn't through with elected office yet, apparently. He is among 22 applicants for the post vacated by Ken Reid when he won election to the Board of Supervisors. Marshall certainly knows Leesburg well. He represented Leesburg for 4 years on the School Board, knocked on thousands of doors last year in his re-election bid, and ran previous campaigns for Leesburg Town Council and School Board as well.

Marshall is quoted in LTM:
“I’ve always been interested in the town and I’ve served on town commissions,” Marshall said. “I live in the town, I’m very much into the Town of Leesburg. Having grown up in the City of Alexandria, when it was a small city, I just love towns. I just relate very closely to Leesburg.”

“I’m really am hooked on public service. I think I’ve made a lot of accomplishments,” Marshall said about his time with the School Board. “I don’t have any kind of agenda I just want to hear what people have to say and I want to see if there’s a way I can find a solution to people’s issues or problems that makes sense for everybody.”
I also spotted Educate Loudoun founding member John Bischoff's name among the 22 applicants.

Contrast this with the number of applicants for the last few School Board vacancies. In 2011 there were three applicants for the Sterling District seat. In 2007 just two applicants for the Potomac District seat, and in 2003 there were nine applicants for the Dulles District seat.

Update: Terry Titus was appointed to fill the vacant seat.
