I was waiting for the western Loudoun excuse to be brought up. There always seems to be 2 inches of ice on some unknown road out there when roads in the rest of the county are clear. I can understand people panicking out over a few inches of snow at the beginning of winter, but everyone should be used to it by now.

So, you know what the weather was all over the county? Or just in your small little corner? The western part of the county received snow earlier than the eastern side. Since many high school students drive, and are inexperienced drivers, it was much more prudent to keep them off the road completely.

Cancelling school on Friday was a joke. Yes, we got a big snow storm, but only an inch or two was on the ground by the time school would have been out on Friday. If there was testing scheduled, like what happended a few years ago, school would not have been cancelled because that would have caused too much inconvenience for the staff. Friday was all about the staff getting a long weekend.

WTOP reported earlier in the week that Loudoun has 15 snow days built into the school schedule. Anyone know if that's true? I can't find anything about snow days on the LCPS web site. Sounds like a lot -- but would come in handy this year! Especially since the last day of school is already June 18.
